Only -139 days left till B2V 2010! Baker to Vegas This page is presented by the Communications Support Services organization. We provide communications for running teams during the Challenge Cup Relay. This event is, by far, the best communications training exercise in which we can participate each year. With many of our volunteers returning year after year, the newcomers will always be working with experienced people to help them. What is "Baker to Vegas"? The phrase 'Baker to Vegas' (B2V) refers to the Challenge Cup Relay race, a 120-mile, 20-stage, foot relay race, that starts just outside of Baker, California and goes through the desert by way of Shoshone and Pahrump, over the mountains, to Las Vegas, Nevada. The teams are restricted to Law Enforcement teams (Federal, State, and Local agencies including Police and Sheriff departments, FBI, DEA, CIA, USPS, Military, Tribal, and many more). All of the teams are responsible for providing their own logistics and support efforts, including communications. How is Communications Support Services involved? Our group of Ham Radio Operators and other volunteers support the running teams of various law enforcement agencies in this competition by providing communications, including that of a health and welfare nature. We have supported the running teams of the San Bernardino Police Department, LAPD Mission Hills Station, LASD Community College Bureau, LA Port Police Department, Los Angeles City Attorneys Office, Beaumont Police Department, and Riverside Police Department. We take our commitment to these teams very seriously, and are proud to be serving them. We are striving to be the best communications team on the course. Therefore, we do all we can to prepare for the race. We will have an extensive Training Session that will include a detailed Communications Manual with thorough instructions. In addition to that, there will be a Training Drill that will offer a hands-on experience. Website by Angie This page revised: 10.18.9 |
